Black Forest Cake
Ingredients
Cake: 1 cup sugar 2 cups flour 4 tbsp. cocoa 2 tsp. baking soda Pinch of salt 1 cup cold water 1 tsp. vanilla 1 cup mayonnaise Filling: Dark cherry pie filling (comstock) Topping: 2 cups whipping cream 3 tbsp. powdered sugar 1-2 tsp. vanilla |
Directions
Cake: Sift dry ingredients together. Add mayonnaise, water and vanilla. Stir and mix with electric mixer for one minute. Bake at 350 degrees 25-30 minutes in two greased 8" round pans. Topping: Beat whipping cream, powdered sugar and vanilla with electric mixer until stiff. Spread half the whipped cream topping onto one cake. spr4ead Cherry filling over topping. Place second cake on top and frost with the remaining topping. Garnish with maraschino cherry on center and grated semi-sweet chocolate sprinkled on top. Paula Smith |
