Beef Stroganoff
Ingredients
1 1/2 lbs. top round steak Noodles 3 tbsp. flour 3 tbsp. fat 1 large onion, sliced 1 1/2 cups sliced muchrooms, fresh or canned 1 cup consomme or bouillon 1 tsp. lemon juice 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1/8 tsp. dry mustard 1 cup sour cream |
Directions
Slice meat and dredge in flour; brown meat in fat. Push meat to one side, add onion and brown lightly. Add mushrooms and 1/2 cup of consomme. Add remaining ingredients except for sour cream and the other half cup of consomme.. Cover pan and cook over low heat 45-60 minutes or until meat is tender. Blend 2 tbsp. of flour with rest of consomme and add to hot mixture. Cook over low heat until smooth. Cook 1/2 to 3/4 package of noodles and drain. While cooking noodles, blend sour cream into meat mixture. Do not boil. Put in casserole dish, noodles first, then meat mixture. Keep warm in oven. Iola Hardy |
